I am happy to introduce to you the Master of Science Programme in Development Planning and Management of the Department of Planning. The programme is popularly called - SPRING (Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing Economies). The SPRING Programme is a joint programme between the Department of Planning (KNUST), the University of Dortmund, Ardhi University in Tanzania, The University of Philippines and the Universidad Austral de Chile in Chile. The programme has been run by the Department since 1985. The Department introduced the full two-year programme in Ghana in 2003.
The programme gives students invaluable skills for the job market as well as for life. Students of the programme enter into invaluable network of dynamic thinkers including academics and other professionals in a cross-cultural setting. This helps students acquire enough experience far in excess of other programmes. The programme includes some theoretical and practical courses. Students have the opportunity to practice what they have learnt in class during field trips before they graduate. The programme treats students as clients whose feedback and input are deemed important for its success. As a result, constant conscientious feedback and market research is carried out to improve upon the programme. The programme has two models: the weekend and weekday. The weekend model helps workers to enroll on the programme without having to leave their jobs.
Thank you for taking time to browse the programme’s website. We would welcome an opportunity to interact with you about your educational progression and development and subsequent enrolment into the programme.
